Susan has been involved in the arts, in one form
or another, since early childhood. She began her adventures with
pencil drawings and charcoals, then dabbled in water colors and pastels.
In addition, she has undertaken excursions into oils and acrylics, silversmithing,
pottery and mixed media sculpting. Beyond that, she found her niche
in working with glass. At first, stained glass was her passion, but
since then she has found even greater fulfillment in hand painting both
plain and colored glass pieces, utilizing a wide variety of floral and
free-form designs.
Education
and Awards
Susan was accepted to attended classes at both the Worcester Art Museum and Worcester Craft Center. There, she studied general design principles and their application to further refine her natural talents. She has also taken private lessons in oil painting and acrylics.
During the course of her artistic pursuits, Susan
has received the Blue Ribbon and Golden Key Boston Globe Awards for her
work in water colors. She also received an Honorable Mention Boston
Globe Award for her work with mixed media sculpture.
The Craftware
Business
Susan has been in business for herself since October 2000, and has had an impact on several regional craft shows. Whether buying or browsing, all patrons agree her work is exceptional.
One of her favorite compliments, graciously given
by one of Susan's most frequent customers, has been, "You take it to
the next level. Your designs are beautiful and the textures glisten
like jewels."
The Craftware
Vision
After spending too many years earning a living in the high technology industry, Susan has severed her ties to the industrialized sector and dedicated herself to the full time pursuit of her artwork. What you see here is the result.
All of Susan's pieces are unique and "one of a kind." She uses no templates or stencils, does everything by hand, and is limited only by her imagination.
